A new course aimed exclusively at empowering women to take on leadership roles and make an impact in their organisations has been launched by Strathclyde Business School.
The Strathclyde Women’s Leadership Experience is a comprehensive development experience designed to empower women to step confidently into leadership roles and amplify their impact within their organisations and beyond.
Structured over four in-depth modules, the programme addresses key dimensions of effective leadership looked at through gender, identity, influence, and purpose.
Those on the course will be helped to develop a clearer understanding of their individual leadership style and how to adapt it in different contexts. They will also be shown how to identify external and internal barriers and how to make the most of their strengths.
Participants will be taught practical strategies that can be used in the leadership pathway while developing a clear action plan to tailor their individual knowledge and skills towards leadership roles.
At the same time, participants will be part of a supportive community, helping them gain new perspectives, learn from others’ experiences and get exposure to inspiring female role models.
The first session will focus on building identity, confidence and leadership, looking at the challenges women face and how to develop strategic leadership responses as well as developing practical tools for cultivating a leadership presence, building self-assurance and capability.
Session two will examine how to manage conflict with emotional intelligence, recognising that emotional intelligence is a leadership skill that can be learned and developed. The session will also cover conflict dynamics and power structures while providing practical tools for managing conflict effectively.
The third session’s focus will be on leading change with influence and impact, exploring how to navigate change in today’s organisations and how to communicate change in ways that build buy-in and commitment in the workplace. Participants will learn how to improve their ability to motivate, inspire and influence teams through change.
The final session will examine leading with purpose, power and reflection and learning how to successfully develop high impact networks, explore sustainable leadership adn turn insight into action.
Programme academic Dr Joanna Butler, Department of Work, Employment and Organisation and Strathclyde Executive Education & Development, said, “This is a future-focused programme designed to accelerate women into leadership positions.
“We can’t wait to welcome the first cohort onto this new programme. As well as gaining personal benefits and leadership skills, the women on the programme will take back increased confidence into the workplace with the capability to take on expanded responsibilities, stronger communication and influence skills and an improved ability to work with conflict and lead teams through any difficult or uncertain periods of business.
“This will be a learning journey built around four key pillars: self-awareness, putting learning into practice, understanding context, and learning through shared experience.
“We aim to develop purpose-driven leaders who will build sustainable networks and inspire others along the way.”
The in-person programme will be taught over eight weeks and costs £3,600 in total. Further information can be found online here.
