Nestled in the heart of Loch Lomond, Four Seasons Campers Ltd offer campervan rental for those looking to explore the idyllic sites across Scotland and the UK.

Established in April 2015 by experienced business woman Liz Mackenzie-Mavor, the company successfully traded for 3 years as a sole trader before expanding to Four Seasons Campers Ltd in February 2018. As a lover of the great Scottish outdoors, Liz and her husband Ivan had spent many years camping, and after a trip up north to one of their favourite places, Achmelvich Beach, they decided to turn their passion for adventure into a full-time business.

After researching the needs of potential customers, Liz and Ivan identified that trading at the premium end of the VW Campervan market would allow them to offer luxurious accommodation that was also reliable and easy to drive. These campervans would also allow them to accommodate for tourists visiting Scotland from overseas by enabling them to offer both manual and automatic options to best suit the needs of the customer.

Since launching the business 4 years ago, Four Seasons Campers Ltd has been growing from strength to strength with Liz now employing an additional 3 members of staff to help with handovers and manage all day to day operations.

With an ever-growing customer base and in order to meet consumer demand, Liz was keen to increase the size of their fleet from 8 campervans to 13 and wanted to purchase 3 of their campervans that were coming to the end of their lease to achieve this.

After speaking with their Advisor at Business Gateway, Liz and Ivan were made aware of Business Loans Scotland and the funding available to new and growing Scottish SMEs. After exploring this source of funding in more detail and realising their campervan business met all the requirements needed to receive loan funding, Liz decided to start the process and applied online.

Receiving a decision within a matter of weeks, Liz and Ivan secured a loan of £50,000 which is funded through the Scottish Growth Scheme and the European Regional Development Fund, and matched with additional funds already in place, will help them purchase their 3 leased campervans and hire these out for a second season.

Speaking of the loan awarded, Managing Director of Four Seasons Campers, Liz Mackenzie-Mavor said:

“I am delighted that BLS has backed our rapidly growing business with a match fund loan value of £50,000 which matched the overdraft facility provided by Clydesdale Bank for £50,000.  The total funding package has funded purchase of an additional 3 VW Campervans to enable us to grow our rental fleet from 8 campervans last year to 13 this year.  We update our vehicles every 12 to 18 months and the funding will provide essential cash flow as we grow our fleet year on year.”

Fund Manager of Business Loans Scotland, Andrew Dickson, added:

“I am delighted that Business Loans Scotland has been able to support Four Seasons Campers with loan finance to grow their business. This loan helps to demonstrate our passion and commitment for supporting Scottish SMEs with the working capital they require to fulfil their growth aspirations. This investment will assist in funding expansion of the business which in turn will help increase sales revenue. I look forward to watching Four Season Campers prosper and would encourage any Scottish SMEs looking for access to gap funding to speak with the team at Business Loans Scotland.”
