Strathclyde Business School (SBS) has been reaccredited by the Association of MBAs (AMBA), demonstrating SBS’s continuing commitment to excellence in management education.

AMBA accreditation applies to all MBA routes as well as our overseas offerings and bespoke MBA programmes. Re-accreditation follows a rigorous on-site assessment of the MBA, which looks at all aspects of the programme, including student cohorts, research, partnerships, faculty and industry connections. A panel of business school experts conducts this assessment along with an AMBA representative.

AMBA’s comprehensive and exacting assessment criteria ensure that only the highest-calibre programmes that demonstrate the best teaching standards, curriculum, and student interaction achieve AMBA accreditation.

The MBA accreditation philosophy is centred on impact, employability, and learning outcomes. Rigorous accreditation criteria ensure that only programmes demonstrating the highest standards in teaching, learning, career development, employability, student, alumni, and employer interaction achieve AMBA accreditation.

AMBA accreditation is awarded to the best programmes internationally and denotes the highest standard of achievement in postgraduate business education. Students, business schools, graduates, and employers all recognise it as a gold standard. AMBA currently accredits programmes from the top 2% of business schools across five continents.

Professor David Hillier, Associate Principal and Executive Dean of Strathclyde Business School said, “I’m delighted that we have achieved another successful five-year accreditation – this means we have held continuous AMBA accreditation for over 40 years, since 1983.

“Accreditation is a reliable indicator of a top quality programme for students and employers. Our triple accreditation reflects our standing as a leading business school in an international technological university that is socially progressive at its core.

“The AMBA award is a testament to the quality of our students, alumni and staff who participated in the reaccreditation process. Strathclyde Business School has always been a pioneer in the MBA field since it introduced the first one-year full-time MBA programme in 1966, and we continue to aim high with our MBA portfolio. AMBA recognises that accredited programmes reflect changing trends and innovation in the postgraduate education sector, and we continue to revise our MBA programme and introduce initiatives such as our Global Practitioners to ensure our MBA is the best it can be, reflecting the needs of the business world.

“Embarking on an MBA is a significant undertaking for students, and we’re delighted our accreditation offers assurances about the quality of our MBA experience.”

During the AMBA accreditation process, panel members representing senior management at global business schools commended the school for its dedication to innovation, exploration of new markets, and widening access to its programmes.

The panel also noted the variety and depth of career services offered to MBA students as being ‘among the best AMBA has encountered’ and acknowledged that students and alumni appreciated the careers service.

As an AMBA-accredited school, all current MBA students – and recent MBA alumni of Strathclyde Business School – are invited to join AMBA’s global member community of more than 60,000 students and alumni in over 150 countries on a complimentary basis for networking, thought leadership, career development, and a variety of benefits.

Andrew Main Wilson, Chief Executive of the Association of MBAs and Business Graduates Association (BGA), said, “Congratulations to Strathclyde Business School for receiving this re-accreditation. The school is clearly offering an impressive MBA programme – with excellent extracurricular and career services.”

The AMBA accreditation follows SBS’s recent reaccreditation by AACSB earlier this year, reaffirming our triple crown status, which comprises accreditation from AMBA, AACSB, and EQUIS.
