After an incredibly successful launch at their Paisley campus, University of the West of Scotland (UWS) are expanding the reach of the Help to Grow: Management programme to their Ayrshire and Lanarkshire campuses in April 2023.

Since launching the UK Government-backed Help to Grow: Management course in September 2022, the UWS School of Business and Creative Industries has already supported over 70 businesses through the programme at their Paisley campus, and hopes to have a similar impact in their other campus regions.

From April 2023, businesses in Ayrshire and Lanarkshire will benefit from 12 weeks of interactive workshops led by UWS academics and industry experts, exploring topics such as branding and marketing, entering new markets, digital adoption, and finance. In addition, each participating business will access 10 hours of 1:1 mentoring, and weekly peer group sessions to network with other local entrepreneurs. Upon completion of the programme, participants will gain access to a UK-wide Alumni Network, and receive 6 months free membership to the Chartered Management Institute (CMI).

Valued at £7,500, the Help to Grow: Management programme is 90% funded by the UK Government, but keen to support as many independent businesses as possible during these challenging times, UWS is offering an additional 10% funding to participants, to ensure there are no financial barriers to organisations who are keen to access the programme.

Johnny Mone, Head of Business Innovation at UWS said: “we are incredibly pleased with the impact that the Help to Grow: Management programme has had on businesses in our local community in such a short period of time. We are really looking forward to bringing this innovative programme to both Ayrshire and Lanarkshire in Spring.”

“The course aims to strengthen covid-recovery for SMEs and will help businesses enhance their management and strategic capabilities, and most importantly, build resilience to future shocks.”
