CMS is delighted to announce that it has been named Law Firm of the Year at The Herald Law Awards of Scotland, held in Glasgow.

The award recognises CMS’ success in Scotland over the last year, culminating in the firm’s best-ever Scottish results. In the past 12 months the firm has advised on a string of blockbuster matters, including Scottish Water’s acquisition of the Project Grampian PFI from the Kelda Group and ConocoPhillips’s $2.675bn sale of its entire UK upstream oil and gas business to Chrysaor E&P Limited.

With more than 400 colleagues based in Scotland, the firm continues to uphold the 250-year legacy that comes from joining forces with Dundas & Wilson. Since that combination in 2014, CMS has welcomed 23 new partners in Scotland through appointment or promotion, with four new laterals in 2019 alone. The firm has also increased its support to the start-up community through the expansion of equIP in Scotland, and continued its excellent work with the local community through its standout Corporate Responsibility and Diversity and Inclusion programmes.

CMS Associate, Emma Boffey, has also been awarded the Junior Solicitor of the Year Award, recognising her achievements in the field of Commercial Litigation and her work in the local community. Not only has Emma taken the lead role on a number of complex cases before the Commercial Court of the Court of Session and the Sheriff Court, but she has also undertaken over 200 hours of voluntary corporate responsibility time.

This award win follows the recognition Emma has already received this year from Chambers & Partners, who ranked her as an “Associate to Watch”, and by Legal 500, who ranked her as a “Rising Star” in the field of Commercial Litigation.

CMS celebrates the valued efforts of the entire CMS Scotland team, all of which have contributed to this recognition.
