Charandeep Singh BEM, Deputy Chief Executive of the Scottish Chambers of Commerce has been appointed as a panel judge for The King’s Awards for Enterprise.

Previously known as the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise, the King’s Awards celebrate outstanding achievements by UK businesses in four main categories; innovation, international trade, sustainable development and promoting opportunity through social mobility.

Charandeep joins the panel category on Promoting Opportunity which seeks to showcase businesses which excel in skills development and mentoring as well as workplaces which foster a culture of inclusiveness and a clear path for progression.

The panel is chaired by Dame Bernadette Kelly DCB, Permanent Secretary for the Department of Transport and other panel judges include Mary MacLeod, Chief Executive, Business in the Community; Sarah Fraser, Head of the Willmott Dixon Foundation; Tunde Banjoko OBE, Chief Executive and Founder, Making the Leap and the UK Social Mobility Awards.

Successful organisations are invited to a Royal reception and are presented with the award at their company by one of The King’s representatives, a Lord-Lieutenant. Winners are able to fly The King’s Awards flag at their main office, use the emblem on their marketing materials as well as receive a Grant of Appointment (an official certificate) and a commemorative crystal trophy.

Previous winners have benefited from worldwide recognition, increased commercial value, greater press coverage and a boost of staff morale. The 2024 award winning organisations will be officially announced on the 6th of May in the London Gazette with Royal receptions for award recipients being held during the summer.

The selection process for these prestigious awards involves a panel of judges reviewing applicants against the criteria for success in each business category in order to determine the winners and celebrate their outstanding accomplishments.
