The Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce’s international team have been driving global connections through a series of dynamic international missions.
In March, we organised a virtual trade mission to Spain, featuring an informative briefing session on doing business in Spain, and personalised B2B meetings for all attendees.
In May, we delivered a trade mission to Shenzhen, China, with a delegation of nine Scottish businesses. The mission, focused on the creative industries, hospitality and tourism, showcased two whisky and gin distilleries, the Edinburgh International Conference Centre, innovative video and animation companies, a forward-thinking retailer, a café and franchiser, an art gallery and creative incubator, and a social enterprise.
Participants had the opportunity to engage in site visits, including a visit to a local business incubator which is offering six months of free landing support in Shenzhen for Scottish businesses looking to set up in China. The delegation immersed themselves in pitching events, B2B meetings, and networking events, culminating in a showcase at the 20th International Culture and Industries Fair, which garnered extensive media attention.
We were delighted to be joined by Lord Provost Robert Aldridge, who participated in the mission to further the dialogue on the Dual Cities Agreement, reinforcing the positive relationship between Edinburgh and Shenzhen.
Looking ahead, we have exciting missions on the horizon, including a virtual mission to Florida in November and a virtual trade mission to Belgium in March 2025. We invite all who are interested international trade to join us on these missions.
