DYW Glasgow’s Construction Aware programme wins Skills Impact Award

DYW Glasgow’s Construction Aware programme has won the Skills Impact Award at the Built Environment – Smarter Transformation Accelerate to Net Zero Awards.

The award-winning programme currently supports around 250 young people through providing insight to opportunities within the construction industry.

Alison McRae, Senior Director, Glasgow Chamber of Commerce said: “Construction Aware is an ambitious project co-designed and delivered with the support of our industry partners, the DYW Co-ordinator team at Glasgow City Council and our funders Landsec and Wheatley Group to respond to a market opportunity for businesses and young people alike. We are thrilled that the hard work and long term ambition of showcasing and promoting skills and learning – ultimately attracting our young people into the construction sector – has been recognised by BE-ST and we aim to continue to develop partnerships across the built environment in the future to continue to build and scale impact across the city.”

Feedback surrounding the programme has been very positive, with one young attendee stating: “The full week was a brilliant experience with all the employers developing new skills to take forward in my future.”

At the awards ceremony, Stephanie Connor, Head of HR at AC Whyte stated: “The programme is a great example of what can be achieved when everyone comes together in partnership.”
