“IT’S fast and furious!”

Speedway remains the most raw motorsport on the planet – and it’s on your doorstep just outside Glasgow city centre.

The hugely-successful Glasgow Tigers are embarking on another epic season of action at Ashfield Stadium.

No other motorsport in the world is quite like speedway. Four riders in every race, no brakes, quicker than an F1 car from 0-60mph in just ONE SECOND and all the action right in front of your eyes.

It’s been a fairytale story for the Tigers featured in The Herald, The Scottish Sun and Daily Record. In late 2014 the club was saved by the Facenna family and Allied Vehicles.

Since then they have ploughed £4million to revamp the stadium which now hosts world class events and has seen the Tigers win the Championship title and five other major honours in just over a decade.

They have just embarked on another title last month in the season that runs from April until October.

Ashfield Stadium’s circuit delivers what is largely recognised as some of the best racing speedway produced in the UK.

Three-times British Champion and British Grand Prix winner Chris Harris is the captain and No.1 star of the club. He has been named Cab Direct Championship Rider of the Year for the past two seasons.

He is backed up by Great Britain star Leon Flint and double British Under-21 champion Sam Hagon.

Team boss Cami Brown expects another huge year ahead. He said: “We have put together another amazing team that can regain the league title. It’s also another exciting seven riders who will give 100 per cent in every race.

“It’s been the most sensational speedway we’ve ever seen at Ashfield. It’s fast and furious and it’s great to see so many young fans returning to watch and loving every minute of it.

“We are enjoying our best crowds for over a decade thanks to the incredible entertainment served up every week.

“We have the likes of Harris, Kyle Howarth and Leon Flint who are known for their out-and-out 100 per cent racing style. They are never-say-die guys who give everything in every race.”

The Tigers reached their fifth Grand Final in 10 years last season but they lost out in a dramatic one-off race to decide the title to Poole at Ashfield.

But boss Brown vowed: “We are desperate to regain our league championship. We are hungry for success.

“We have a great team with so much talent and who have won titles at the highest level of the sport.

“But the main thing is that we are proud of delivering the best entertainment. Speedway is unique in that it brings high octane motorsport highly-competitive racing in Glasgow.

“It is utterly breathtaking. Four guys going from 0-60 in one second, elbow-to-elbow in 15 races with no brakes. It sounds insane and it is.

“It’s such a good night out for all the family. The kids love it because it’s so exciting plus there’s our funny mascot Roary The Tiger plus a kids running race.

“There’s good banter with the fans but great for all the family. It can get heated on the track sometimes with the riders but that’s all part of the fun.

“Ultimately we want to be successful, we want the Tigers to win races.

“Over the past few years we’ve won six major trophies and there’s nothing like that winning feeling.

“Now we’ve got the big Championship title to win back and we are ready for it. There’s only one thing for sure at Glasgow speedway, it is never dull!”
