Supporting small and medium-sized enterprises’ (SME) post-Covid recovery efforts will be the focus of a new University of the West of Scotland (UWS) initiative.

Funded by the UK government, Help to Grow: Management will be delivered by academics from the School of Business and Creative Industries at UWS – one of 55 business schools in the UK to hold the Small Business Charter. The programme – worth £7,500 – is an innovative and accessible solution for SMEs looking to boost their performance, resilience, and long-term growth.

Johnny Mone, Head of Business Innovation at UWS, said: “We are delighted to be offering this new initiative which will support businesses and the local economy.

“The course aims to strengthen covid-recovery for SMEs and will help businesses enhance their management and strategic capabilities, build resilience, adopt digital technologies to boost productivity and operational agility, and help to improve employee engagement and responsible business practices.”

Over 12 weeks, participants will take part in a range of interactive, online sessions, as well as four in-person workshops at UWS’s Paisley Campus. The programme is now open for applications, with the first cohort of businesses expected to start on 21 September 2022.
