Glenrinnes Distillery, the home of Scottish luxury vodka and gin brand Eight Lands, has become an Approved Programme Provider (APP) of WSET training courses. The Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) is the largest global provider of wine, spirits and sake qualifications.

The addition of accredited WSET training courses to existing distillery and production services is part of the company’s strategy to establish Glenrinnes Distillery as a centre of excellence for distilling.

With the first course planned to run on Monday 11th and Tuesday 12th April, Glenrinnes Distillery is offering Level 1 and Level 2 Awards in Spirits as well as Level 1 and Level 2 Awards in Wines, the latter being run in association with award-winning wine specialists WoodWinters. The courses are open to beginners, enthusiasts and those already working in the drinks trade. Alongside scheduled courses, the team welcomes private groups and can also run courses for specific F&B teams.

Alex Christou, Founder of Eight Lands and Glenrinnes Distillery, said: “Where better to develop your drinks knowledge than in a working distillery, led by people that have experience producing award-winning spirits? This accreditation has been driven by our Head of Distilling and Operations, Meeghan Murdoch, who will lead the training courses. She has fantastic experience across drinks production and is the ideal person to develop our educational offering.”

The eye-catching, family-owned distillery started producing spirits in early 2019, launching its own Eight Lands brand later that year. Since then, Eight Lands has won a number of prestigious awards and is stocked across the UK including at Berry Bros. & Rudd, Harvey Nichols, Gleneagles Hotel, Milroy’s of Soho, Session Arts Club, and The Belmond Cadogan Hotel. The brand is also available in Canada, Macao, and Japan.

As well as distillery services and WSET courses, Glenrinnes Distillery also offers VIP Tours which incorporate experiences around the wider Glenrinnes Estate such as clay pigeon shooting, Argocat driving and a chance to feed the deer.
