Scottish Asthma charity, the Asthma and Allergy Foundation (AAF) which provides evidence-based health information, confidential advice and practical support to adults and children with asthma, their families and carers across Scotland recently launched their AAF Ambassador Initiative.

The charity, which focuses on the place of patient education in the management of asthma and specialises in providing reliable Asthma Training to Businesses has had great successes delivering life-saving work across Scotland for over 14 years. Work that has been made possible by the generosity of many individuals, sponsorship from businesses and grant and donation from trusts and foundations.

In recognition of all their support of AAF activities in the community the Trustees have created the position of AAF Ambassador, with Colin Black, FEI Managing Director of AAF’s Sponsors Carjon-NRG Limited/ UK Energy Technology Platform becoming our first ever Ambassador and we look forward to announcing further Ambassadors in due course.

Colin joined our team at an Asthma Workshop at Insch Primary School at the beginning of week. It was wonderful to have this very important asthma awareness workshop in a school with over 26 pupils with asthma, and to hear Colin talk so passionately about his own experience of living with a lung condition and achieving huge success, including working with Astronauts. What an inspiration that was and we hope the children took away something important from the asthma workshop.

Commenting on Colin’s appointment, Martina Chukwuma-Ezike, CEO of the organisation said, “Colin has been hugely supportive of our work at the Asthma and Allergy Foundation. He and his team have generously sponsored asthma awareness workshops for Staff and Pupil Support Assistants in schools and made it possible for the charity to provide essential asthma packs, which have enhanced the preparedness of school staff and pupils to deal with any asthma and allergy-related emergencies. Colin has always encouraged the financial support of other companies and businesses for the life-saving work of the charity, and we are delighted he is now our Ambassador”.
