Two Ayrshire-based organisations have been awarded an Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Gold Award by the Ministry of Defence (MOD) in recognition of their support towards the Armed Forces community.

The recipients were:

  • Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce
  • Brodie Engineering

Representing the highest badge of honour, the Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award identifies businesses that employ and support those who serve, veterans and their families.

Claire Baird, Ayrshire Chamber CEO said: “It is fantastic to collect the Gold Employer Recognition Scheme award on behalf of the Ayrshire Chamber team. I am proud that Ayrshire Chamber’s support of the armed forces and Veterans has been recognised by the Ministry of Defence and has been awarded such a prestigious accolade.”

Minister for Defence People, Veterans and Service Families, Dr Andrew Murrison said: ‘I would like to thank all the organisations that have been recognised in this year’s awards. I’m delighted that we have seen so many organisations recognised with a gold award. Their continued support demonstrates the unique benefits and strengths that our Armed Forces community can bring to the workplace.’

“To receive the award, organisations must demonstrate that they have supportive policies in place for Defence people, which includes: Reservists, Regulars, Veterans, Cadet Force Volunteers and Spouses.”

Presented by General Officer Scotland Major General Robin Lindsay CBE, 19 Scottish recipients received their Gold ERS Awards in the Great Hall at Edinburgh Castle on 26 October.
