The UWS Centre for Continuing Professional Development is offering business support practitioners the opportunity to gain accreditation from SFEDI (the Small Firms Enterprise Development Initiative), with a part-funded SCQF Level 8 Diploma in Business and Enterprise Support.

Suitable for anyone working in an advisory or business support role, the SFEDI Diploma allows practitioners to widen their knowledge of the bigger picture of support services on a local, regional, and national scale whilst developing their professional networks within the field of business and enterprise.

The course is delivered by practitioners from the UWS School of Business and Creative Industries, many of whom have worked extensively in business support and advisory roles within Business Gateway, Scottish Enterprise and The Prince’s Scottish Youth Business Trust.

UWS is the only University in Scotland to be recognised by IOEE (the Institute of Enterprise and Entrepreneurs) as an IOEE Academy, and holds accreditation from the Small Business Charter, which recognises the university’s commitment to providing business support to local businesses.

Dr Alan Murray, Reader in Enterprise at University of the West of Scotland said: “the SFEDI Diploma short course has been carefully designed to give professionals supporting business in any capacity the essential knowledge and skills they need to operate and develop their career.”

He continued: “It’s hands-on and provides practitioners with a deeper understanding of support services available to entrepreneurs, whilst developing their professional industry networks. We are delighted to extend this opportunity to those working in business support roles on a funded basis, at a time where business support is in high demand.”

Funding for the SFEDI Level 8 Diploma in Business and Enterprise Support may be available to those aged 18+ who are living and working in Scotland. For those who are successful in obtaining funding, a bursary of £1000 will apply, leaving a balance of £600 to pay only.
