e-POWER has operated online auctions for over twenty years. Their portfolio includes over 200 generators of all different sizes (from 50kW to 50MW) and across all the renewable technologies. The auction process ensures their export PPA is sold to the highest bidder, which during these increasingly difficult times of lower wholesale power prices can be a real boost to generator’s income.

e-POWER has had some notable successes recently at gaining new customers. Only last month, City of Wolverhampton Council appointed e-POWER to manage its export power contract for its EfW site for the next two years after a competitive tendering process. The plant, operating since 1998, incinerates circa 100,000 tonnes of waste a year. With an installed capacity of 9.7 MW generating annually approximately 30,000 MWhs this is enough electricity to power 7,000 homes for a year.

John Roseblade, director of resident services at City of Wolverhampton Council, said – ‘When we took back over the running of the plant last year, we were determined to ensure we were getting the best price for the electricity exported to the grid from our plant. The tendering process clearly concluded that e-POWER’s competitive and transparent online auction, backed up by a very knowledgeable team operating robust processes was the best way to achieve this.’

Stuart Stephens MD of e-POWER responded – ‘We are so pleased to be working with the team at City of Wolverhampton Council. We’ve had a lot of experience over the years selling the power on our auction platform from large EfW plants and in fact right now we are doing this for six EfW sites amounting to some 100MW of installed capacity.’

e-POWER also operates the e-ROC and e-REGO auctions on a monthly basis and over the years has become the natural place for both buyers and sellers of ROCs and REGOs, being a quick and easy way to realise the value of these renewable benefits. In fact, over the last few months ROCs have been auctioned at over £62.50 and REGOs at over £12.50.
