As the Head of Operations at a rapidly growing salary sacrifice electric car company, Johannes was keen to gain some new perspectives on managing a business. On the recommendation of a business contact he decided to join the Help to Grow Management programme at the University of Strathclyde, and neither he nor his enterprise have looked back.
For Johannes, being given the opportunity to take a few steps back from the day-to-day running of the business gave him a new perspective. Receiving expert advice from course tutors and mentors, individuals who were both skilled at imparting their knowledge in an academic environment as well as experienced in interacting with industry on a daily basis, also added a new dimension to his perspective.
Johannes says that being surrounded by a supportive cohort of fellow students, along with the guidance offered by educators, has helped shape him into a more confident leader, to the benefit of his business.
“Taking part in the Help to Grow programme has been a great step forward for my personal development”, he explains. “Not only that, but my participation in the course has also had a hugely positive impact on the business because it’s empowered me to make decisions with more confidence and assurance, and it gave me the opportunity to identify and address gaps in my knowledge”.
Johannes also benefitted from the versatility of the course and says that its structure and format helps to set participants up for long-term success.
With a busy life and three young children at home, Johannes was able to access the space and resources to dedicate time solely to his self-development and that of the business, thanks to the dynamic face-to-face nature of the Help to Grow Management programme.
