Meet The People Behind the Brand

Mansi Dwivedi, Projects & International Trade Executive, Scottish Chambers of Commerce

My role at the Scottish Chambers of Commerce allows me to work closely with businesses, helping them navigate the complexities of international markets and fostering strong trade relationships.

I believe that international trade is not just about economic transactions; it is a powerful tool for fostering understanding, cooperation, and development among nation states. By supporting businesses in their international ventures, I feel that I am contributing to a more interconnected and prosperous world.

Alongside my professional role, I am currently pursuing a Masters in Law, specialising in International Trade and Commercial Law from Durham University. What truly motivates me is the desire to make a positive impact in the world. I am passionate about spreading awareness of how laws and policies impact our daily lives and the global economy.

Through volunteering and community engagement, I strive to educate others about these important issues and empower them to make informed decisions. Recently, I led an educational outreach project in Durham called SPARK (Students Providing Access to Research and Knowledge). As a part of SPARK, I ran a series of events, providing postgraduate and PhD students a platform to deliver short presentations on their research topics to primary school children.

I delivered a 15-minute presentation on ‘What is international trade law and why is it important’ to Years 5 and 6 students at Finchale Primary School in Durham. This was a very rewarding experience, and it was motivating to hear such insightful questions and interest in the topic by students.

An additional and related cause I feel very strongly about is equal access to education for all. I do my part by acting as a mentor for Indian high school students applying for UK universities. In the past, I was a Grants Officer for Project Access International. This non-profit organisation focuses on levelling the playing field for underprivileged students applying to universities globally. My responsibilities included sustaining donor and investor relations, drafting grant applications, and aiding in fundraising strategies. Volunteering allowed me to see firsthand the transformative power of education and the importance of providing equal opportunities to all.

During the final year of my undergraduate degree at Edinburgh University, I oversaw the welfare of 300 first-year students living in student housing. I organised over 25 social and academic events, providing pastoral care and peer support, ensuring a supportive community for new students. This role was incredibly rewarding as I helped students navigate their first year of university, providing them with a sense of belonging and support.

My journey so far has been shaped by a deep-seated belief in the power of education and the impact of community engagement. Making a positive difference, advocating for equal access to education and spreading awareness of laws and policies are what drive me every day.

I am grateful for the opportunities I have had so far and look forward to the future with optimism and determination!
