On 14th and 15th August 2023, the Scottish Chambers of Commerce were delighted to host our first International Learning Academy, bringing together the Chamber Network to engage with our partners – the Scottish Government, Scottish Development International and Department for Business and Trade.

As part of the International Trade Partnership, supported by the Scottish Government to deliver a range of inward and outward trade missions to help businesses in Scotland make connections with potential trade opportunities, the Scottish Chambers of Commerce created the International Learning Academy to provide the Chamber network with the opportunity to get together, share best practice and plan for the future of the network’s international trade support.

Hosted by our International Trade Director, Seona Shand, she welcomed over 30 delegates on day one of the event providing them the opportunity to participate in showcasing the support available from the Chamber network and identifying the opportunities when accessing our extensive global network. The team highlighted the challenges and opportunities and the ambition of the Chambers to draw on our international networks to make Scotland a champion of multilateral engagement.

The following day united the Chamber network, participating in a roundtable discussion and workshop, analysing the priority list of countries where the bulk of future growth may come from and discussing the plans to help pave the way to key emerging markets through the international trade missions.

Seona Shand said: “It was a pleasure to organise and facilitate this event for the Chamber network. There was so much positivity and valuable insight into the importance of strong working relationships between the local Chambers of Commerce throughout Scotland.”

It was a testament to the Chamber network of its strength and resilience and understanding of the untapped opportunity for businesses in Scotland looking to internationalise. As markets open, the increase for global demand for products and services from Scotland is obvious and the Chamber network is at the heart of bringing business leaders from across the UK and the globe to come together to discuss these opportunities for growth.

The Scottish Chambers of Commerce network is ready to support business across the world, with support from The Scottish Government. Get in touch with your local Chamber to see how your business can benefit or visit exporthubscotland.com to see upcoming international opportunities.
