Glasgow Care Foundation was established by a group of Glasgow businessmen in 1874, with the aim of alleviating poverty in the city. Sadly, 150 years on, our work still remains much needed. Our motto is ‘A Helping Hand not a Handout’.

We support families and individuals of all ages and different family groups, the majority have children. Our core work is providing the basics of a dignified life such as beds, white goods and flooring. Our referrals come from professional partners and community grant requests. Within one week of being referred to us, we can be delivering items that have an immediate impact on peoples lived experience.

Like most charities, we are concerned about the cost of living choices people face. To address this, particularly in the winter months we issue supermarket gift cards to give back some dignity of choice.

Our aim is to help 10,000 people over the next 10 years. We do not receive government funding. Our revenue comes from capital investments made in earlier years and donations. Our investments cover our running costs for 4 part time staff. EVERY penny of donations goes to help those in need.

As a fellow chamber member are you looking for a charity of the year or would you be interested in becoming an Ambassador for us? As a small charity doing big things but against great demand, your support is truly appreciated to ensure we can continue to help as many people as possible.
